Boat-sitting

Owners
Leaving your boat for the winter or a long trip? Say what needs looking after, see who applies with their verification, references and reviews, and agree a short summary.
Boat-sitters
Anyone can apply, and sailing experience helps. Keep an eye on a real boat in her marina, staying aboard where the marina allows it.
How boat-sitting works

How a passage comes together

  1. 1

    The captain posts the passage

Route, dates, the boat and the crew needed, with any shared costs declared before anyone applies.

  2. 2

    Crew apply with a message

The captain reads each profile, experience and reviews, then chooses who sails.

  3. 3

Plan it, sail it, review it

Captain and crew settle the details in one chat, and after the passage both write a review.

Good to know

  • Blind reviews

After a passage, captain and crew each write their review before either is shown, so neither writes with the other's in mind.

    How we vet members
  • Costs up front

Captains declare any shared costs on the passage before you apply. We never handle money between captains and crew.

  • Never sailed?

Some captains welcome first-timers and will show you the ropes. The short guide explains what to bring and how to apply.

    How crewing works
  • Founding members

Members who join during our launch carry a Founding member badge, as a thank-you. It is a badge and nothing more: no price, discount or other promise comes with it.

Bring your reputation with you

Years of good reviews on another crewing site? Import them in minutes, so captains and owners see your sea miles from day one.

  • Captains see them next to the reviews you earn here
  • No re-earning your reputation from scratch
  • Stand out immediately to potential captains
  • Imported reviews are labelled, with a link to your profile on the other site
