7. International Passages & Immigration
Important: Please read this section carefully if you are considering sailing in a country where you are not a citizen or permanent resident.
7.1 Immigration & Visa Requirements
Border and immigration authorities in many countries may classify crewing on sailing passages, even when no monetary payment is exchanged, as a form of employment or work that requires a valid work permit or visa. The provision of services in exchange for accommodation may be considered "work" under immigration law, regardless of how the arrangement is characterised by the parties involved or by this Platform.
We strongly advise all Members to consult directly with the immigration authorities or embassy of any country they plan to visit for a Passage before accepting or confirming any passage arrangement. Visa and immigration requirements vary by country and may change without notice.
7.2 Your Responsibility
You are solely responsible for:
- Researching and understanding the visa, work permit, and immigration requirements of any country you intend to visit for a Passage
- Obtaining any necessary visas, permits, or authorisations before travelling
- Complying with all applicable immigration laws and regulations
- Any consequences arising from denied entry, deportation, detention, or other immigration-related issues
7.3 No Legal Advice or Representations
We do not provide legal advice and make no representations or warranties regarding the legality of sailing arrangements in any jurisdiction. Any information provided in these Terms & Conditions and/or on the Platform about international passages is for general informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as legal advice. We do not guarantee that crewing will be permitted under the immigration laws of any country.
7.4 Limitation of Liability for Immigration Issues
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we expressly disclaim any and all liability for any loss, damage, cost, or expense (including but not limited to denied entry, deportation, detention, travel disruption, legal fees, or future travel restrictions) arising from or related to immigration or visa issues in connection with any Passage arranged through the Platform.
8. Fees & Payment
8.1 Free to Join
Joining and using the Platform is currently free of charge. The Platform does not take, hold or pass on money between Captains and Crew: any contribution to the costs of a Passage is agreed and paid directly between the people concerned.
9. Cancellations
9.1 Repeated Cancellations
We are a third party to the agreements between Captain and Crew Member, but nevertheless consider reported cancellations as behaviour that does not match what We expect from our Members as they impact other Members who may have declined alternative arrangements. Therefore, Members with three or more cancellations within a 12-month period may have their account restricted or suspended.
9.2 No-Show Policy
For the same reason, failure to arrive for a confirmed Passage without prior notice constitutes a no-show and may result in immediate account suspension and review.
9.3 Platform Liability
For avoidance of doubt, We have no liability if a Member cancels at any time, and you will not be entitled to any compensation from Us. Except for the consequences as set out under 9.1 and 9.2 cancellations are solely matters between the Members involved.
10. Reviews & Ratings
10.1 Posting Reviews
Members may post reviews and ratings based on their experience. Reviews must be:
- True, fair, and accurate
- Based on an actual Passage experience
- Posted within 14 days of completing the Passage
- Not posted if the Passage was cancelled
10.2 Review Standards
You may not:
- Post reviews for Members you have a personal relationship with
- Accept incentives in exchange for reviews without disclosure
- Post false, misleading, or defamatory reviews
10.3 Our Rights
We reserve the right to remove reviews that appear to be untrue, unfair, inaccurate, offensive, or inappropriate at first glance.
10.4 Review Disputes
If you believe a review is false or defamatory, you may request an investigation within 14 days of the review being posted. Dispute requests must include:
- A clear explanation of why you believe the review is false
- Supporting evidence such as photographs, messages, or other documentation
We will investigate disputes and may remove or amend reviews found to be demonstrably false. Our decision on review disputes is final.
10.5 Blind Review Period
To encourage honest feedback and prevent retaliatory reviews, reviews are submitted independently and remain hidden until both parties have submitted their review, or until 14 days have passed after the Passage ends, whichever occurs first.
11. Sailing-Related Risks & Liability
11.1 Acknowledgment of Risk
Both Captains and Crew Members acknowledge that sailing involves inherent risks.
11.2 Captain Liability
Captains are responsible for any injury, damage, or loss occurring on their boat during a Passage.

Crew Members are under no obligation to accept arrangements involving boats or conditions they deem unsuitable.
11.4 Maintenance Costs
Captains remain responsible for all boat maintenance costs.
12. Responsibility and limitation of Liability
12.1 Platform Responsibility and Disclaimer
Our commitments are best efforts commitments, which means that We will use our best efforts as may be expected of a reasonable and prudent person acting under the same circumstances.
We and our information providers cannot be held liable for damages resulting from malicious scripts in any form, bugs, if the Platform is incompatible with the infrastructure used by a Member, nor damages resulting from any malfunctions, interruptions or errors, evolution, recovery, control, maintenance, technical problems, interruptions in network or overload, as well as events independent of our will such as force majeure.
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any acts or omissions of Members, e.g. the content posted by Members
- We are not liable for any loss, damage, injury, or death arising from Passages
- We make no representations about the suitability, reliability, or quality of any Member

You assume full responsibility for:
- Evaluating and vetting potential Captains or Crew Members

13.1 Platform Captainship
We retain ownership of all materials (e.g. software, databases, trademarks and intellectual property regarding the Platform and of all content texts, information, analyses, graphics, images) if posted by Us on the Platform.
13.2 Your Content
By posting content on the Platform, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, copy, modify, and distribute your content in connection with the Platform.
14. Privacy
Your personal information will be collected, stored, and used in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By using the Platform, you consent to such collection and use.
15. Platform Security
15.1 Member Responsibility
Members are responsible for verifying the identity and suitability of other Members before entering into any Passage Arrangement. We recommend video calls, reference checks, and reviewing member profiles and reviews carefully.
15.2 Identity Verification
Members may choose to verify their identity. Verification is carried out by our third-party provider, Didit, which checks a government-issued ID and a selfie on its own systems under its own terms and privacy policy. By starting a verification you agree to Didit's terms for that check. We receive only the result and the name on the ID, and show other Members an ID verified badge. The badge confirms only that the person matched an ID document. It is not a check of qualifications, seamanship, character or the condition of any boat. Verification is optional unless we tell Members otherwise in advance. See how identity verification works.
15.3 No Guarantees
We do not guarantee the accuracy of information provided by Members or the suitability of any Member for any particular Passage.
16. Dispute Resolution
16.1 Between Members
Disputes between Members should be resolved directly between those parties.
16.2 Regarding the Services
If you have a dispute with us, you agree to notify us first and attempt to resolve the matter through good faith negotiation. Except in case of mandatory consumer laws, any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably, will exclusively fall within the competence of the courts of Luxembourg.
17. Termination
17.1 By You
You may terminate your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us.
17.2 By Us
We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for breach of these Terms & Conditions or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
17.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your access to the Platform will be revoked
- Provisions that should survive termination will remain in effect
18. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to unilaterally adapt or modify these Terms & Conditions at any time for valid reasons and in order to:
- adapt them to legislative or regulatory provisions in force or being adopted;
- adapt them to any decision handed down by a jurisdiction, a consumer agency or by any other competent authority;
- prevent abuse or harm or for security reasons;
- reflect changes and developments in how We operate;
- reflect changes in market conditions or standard industry practice;

These Terms & Conditions, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding your use of the Platform.
19.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent.
19.5 No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that provision.
19.6 Force Majeure
Neither we nor any Member shall be liable for any failure or delay in performing obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, pandemics, epidemics, government actions, war, terrorism, civil unrest, strikes, transportation disruptions, or other events of force majeure. In such circumstances, affected Members should communicate promptly and work together in good faith to find alternative arrangements where possible.

We provide email support for Platform-related enquiries. Response times may vary based on the nature and complexity of your enquiry. We aim to respond to all enquiries within a reasonable timeframe.
20.2 Passage Emergencies
Members should exchange emergency contact information before the start of each Passage. In urgent situations involving safety, Crew Members should contact the Captain immediately. If the Captain cannot be reached, Crew Members should use their best judgment to protect the safety of all aboard, including seeking assistance from maritime authorities if necessary.
20.3 Maritime Emergencies
Captains remain responsible for all boat-related costs, including emergency repairs. Crew Members should contact the Captain before incurring expenses where possible. Captains should provide Crew Members with emergency details and authorisation for emergency actions before the Passage begins.
